Flat Lapping advantages

Polish Flat Lapping has many advantages aside from a Blue Print requirement. The biggest advantage is having a perfectly flat surface to locate on for Grinding, Milling, or Turning operations. We work with many shops that use our lapping services to better their product. Often times a Flat Lapped part can bypass a grinding operation and go straight to the Lathe for a perpendicularity call out to a diameter. Flat Lapping prevents the part from being squished or the "potato chip" effect. In terms of Blue Print requirements there is the helium light band and micro inch finishes. Our machines are capable of creating 1 helium light band and sub microinch finish, often times about .6 RA
